Thompsons NI responds to Northern Trust patient recall

Thompsons NI is concerned by the recent recall of 9,000 Northern Trust patients’ records in a review of the locum consultant’s work.

So far, more than 9,000 patients and families have been contacted by the trust regarding their treatment. The executive has now ordered a comprehensive review to examine the clinical practice of the consultant’s work. Some patients may have to be recalled for clinical assessment and two serious adverse incident reviews have been launched. The General Medical Council commented that it was investigating the “serious concerns” and would be working closely with the Northern Trust throughout the process.
