Thompsons NI responds to patient recall

Thompsons NI is concerned by the recent recall of in excess of 2500 patients by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust following treatment received by the Neurology department and in particular Dr Michael Watt.

At Thompsons NI we have specialist clinical negligence solicitors with considerable experience of representing and assisting patients who have suffered as a result of medical mistakes including delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. We provide legal support to the brain injury charity, Headway and to the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) in Northern Ireland.

We are committed to supporting victims of medical negligence both in terms of guiding them through the claims process and by securing for them the optimum outcome possible.

One such case in which Thompsons NI has been instructed is that of a patient who had been diagnosed with MS and placed on DMT treatment despite various investigations coming back clear. Her diagnosis not only impacted upon her psychologically but the DMT treatment also had various unpleasant side effects.  Following the recall it appears unlikely that she had MS and did not require DMT treatment.

If you have been affected by the recall or have concerns about the medical treatment you have received, please contact either Joanne Kerr or Oonagh McClure of our office for a free consultation.
